What is your story?

My name is Francesca de Luca, I'm from Italy but moved to London in 2013. I was 22 at the time, coming from a small town to the big, chaotic London. A place that to my eyes was full of life and opportunities. To sustain myself I did so many different jobs, but on the side I always had my dream, that was makeup.

My passion started when I was 18 by watching videos online on how to do makeup, started practicing as self taught and bought myself a full set of brushes. I also started my YouTube Channel where I would share products reviews, tutorials and everything beauty. I loved trying new products and makeup was my therapy, but I've doubted myself for long time before deciding to get qualified.

In 2020, thanks to my biggest supporter, my partner Ron, I finally decided to enroll into a course at The London School of makeup in Oxford Circus and that's where my dream came true! I quickly gained experience on photoshoots and started to have my own clients. From then, the rest is history.

Did you always want to become an artist?

Ever since I was a little girl, I've always being fascinated but everything art related. I was always doodling, drawing everywhere, I remember drawing basically what you would call a MUA face chart today, everyday. As I grew up I've become interested in photography as well as painting—I always looked for a way to express myself. So, In a way, I always knew I would be an artist .

What do you enjoy about being a makeup artist?

I enjoy expressing a concept trough makeup. I think that's the best part, being able to be creative and of course, the people. I feel blessed to talk to so many women and get to know them, their stories. I will always love to inspire and get inspired by women.

What do you admire about yourself?

I definitely admire my honesty and level of care I have for others. I think I'm a good listener too!

Who or what inspires you?

I'm inspired by other fellow artists, women and LGBTQ+ individuals as well as other minority groups and their resilience.

What gives you joy?

Definitely my cats. My cats bring me lots of joy! Also connecting with people, making them feel seen and heard.

What are your thoughts on jewelry?

I prefer to have few simple pieces that means something to me and wear that forever! I prefer choosing something that's durable and that has an emotional value more than changing a necklace or bracelet everyday. So simple, durable jewellery makes me feel good.
